I take my beetle to Wrench Werks and am extremely satisfied. This is my second vw that I have taken there. Everyone there is polite and professional. They have always performed the service I need correctly and on time. They even follow up with a phone call to see whether I was satisfied. Only a company that is confident in their service will do this. Aaron is always on top of the work being performed. I am happy that I have a quality independent shop to take my vws to.

I've never taken my car to Wrench Werks, so this is just a review for the Parts Specialist, Jake. He is goddamn awesome. When I moved to Hawaii I bought a used VW Cabrio from a dealership. When I purchased it, I wanted the car itself and settled for the fancy rims. I figured I would change them to regular wheels at some point. The rims look cool, whatever, but they are just not right for my little car and a pain in my ass, almost literally because I can feel every bump and pothole. Well, due to the massive rain fall the past couple of days and the fact that I literally have just a few inches between the road and my rims, I got a flat tire. Another auto shop had suggest that I just purchase VW stock wheels to replace my current rims, which was what brought me to call Wrench Werks. I originally spoke with Jake over the phone about purchasing the stock tires, which were quoted at $2000, but he gave me other options on what I should do in my situation since the price was so high. He was nothing short of being super fucking awesome and helpful in educating me on those damn tire size numbers, and giving me suggestions on what tire size I need for my car and the best place to find them. I've been so stressed since I got the flat and the ordeal I went through to get my car towed (it was like a cliche...pouring rain at night, phone about to die, a flat tire, a tow truck 2.5 hour later, and a tow truck driver that tells you how nice it is that you are single while you're sitting next to him hoping he's not going to wear your skin the next day). Speaking with Jake completely eased me, I actually wanted to stay on the phone with him and learn more about cars. Jake, I think I love you.

Took my POS there and they fixed what I asked, finished relatively fast, with as many cars as i saw there. Their labor is expensive but its about like everyone else's shop here so taking it somewhere else for cheaper labor to save you 50 bucks probably isn't worth it honestly, you do get what you pay for. They did a good job, no complaints. I didn't look to see about the license plate thing. I should!

I guess when you really think about it, unless you're getting modifications or something, you don't really ever want to deal with a mechanic. Typically, seeing them means you have to spend a lot of money that you weren't planning to spend. I bought a used VW when I got to the island and immediately had some significant problems with it. I got a quote for repairs from VW and the quote was about $1,000.00. I brought my car to Wrench Werks after having found them on Yelp. I believe my repair ended up being about $950 at Wrench Werks, but they were friendly and professional. I've dealt with VW service on a few other VWs I've had and trust me, their service is legendary for being terrible. To Make a long story short about a week after I got my car back from being repaired something else went wrong. I brought the car in and they spent probably 2 days diagnosing the problem. They were gracious enough to not charge me for this, even though they probably could have run up a $2k service bill on me. They did the full diagnosis as a courtesy. It's a good way to win customer loyalty. I'm definitely getting rid of my piece of crap car, but if I get another VW I'll bring it to these guys for service.

I read all the negative reviews and I wanted to take my car to Tai VW in Wahiawa at first but it would have been a 30 mile tow so I chanced it with Wrench Werks. They fixed my car in about 3 hours and for less than Tai estimated. Noted a few other issues that should eventually be fixed but didn't try to do extra work and charge me for it.They also referred me to a tow company that charged me $5 less than the guy I called quoted. I think a lot of people are are pissy after having to shell out a bunch of money for a repair, especially hobby mechanics who second guess the pros and think they could have done the job themselves, or maybe I just got lucky but I thought Wrench Werks did a great job.

Apparently, they dont only work on volkswagen and audis. While I have not had the pleasure of bringing in my Nissan, at least I know they can take it - or at least they say they can. Good to know.

Aaron and his team at Wrench Werks have always given us honest estimates and advice when we inquire about "what we should do." They do good and fast work and have never told us to get "unnecessary repairs" done. There have been times where I call to inquire, tell Aaron what I've been quoted from other automotive companies and he'll honestly say, "That's a good price, you should go with it." He's even asked additional questions to make sure my issue is not covered under the warranty before pursueing the possible sale. I highly recommend Aaron and his team for your automotive repair needs (even if they do specialize in German Engineering, they do just as good a job on other makes and models).

I realized that they put a Wrench Werks license plate holder on my car a few weeks after I had my car in... a little bothered by this (although I had absolutely no attachment to my Audi Hawaii license plate holder). I was really tempted to take it off, but alas, that sounded like more of a pain than just keeping it there. And, I do think they are a great alternative to the dealer. But I thought I should warn everyone, that you may get a new license plate holder if you're not careful... Wrench Werks - please review this policy... it just feels a little pushy. Maybe just asking before you do it next time will be better.

After our VW dealer told us we need a new clutch to the tune of $2500, we decided to shop around. I spoke directly to the owner of Wrench Werks (Lance) and told him what the dealer said. He called back within 15 min with an estimate of $1216, less than half of what the dealer quoted. Suspicious, I looked for Yelp reviews and talked to Lance several times about exactly what part they'd put in, etc. We decided to entrust the VW GTI (2004) to them and I'm so happy we did! They were extremely responsive, professional, courteous and very quick. These guys work hard and know what they're doing. They also have a detailing shop on-site so you can get your car back like new. They also did a very good job. Highly recommend them! Great work Wrench Werks team, and Aaron and Lance specifically!
